Moving Elevated Platform for Disabled Train Passengers
Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation Ogden Dunes Station is a low-level platform. An elevated platform was needed so that disabled passengers could use the train. However, due to the numbers of riders from this station, it was uneconomical to build high-level platforms for all passengers. Because the track is also used by freight trains which are wider, a permanent high-level platform could not be used. GKC Consulting designed a high level platform with a “draw-bridge”.
